At Texas 35 Media, our mission is to provide high-quality coverage of Fine Arts programs throughout the state. We focus on all areas: band, theater, choir, orchestra, and mariachi. For band coverage, we cover marching bands, jazz bands, concert bands, winter guard, and indoor percussion.
Since the start of our coverage, marching bands have been a key part of Texas 35. The first two bands we covered and worked with were Veterans Memorial HS and Judson HS. The gratitude from the students, directors, and parents from Veterans Memorial HS and Judson HS sparked the desire to expand our coverage to theater, choir, and orchestra. From two marching bands in 2022 to covering over 120 marching bands in 2024 we have found gratitude has been shown across all the programs we cover.
Our team for our entertainment division is the smallest staffed division of Texas 35. Currently, the staff is made up of five people who work as a team to create coverage that you will not find anywhere else. The team is led by our CEO who is the main photographer. The face of our coverage is Kam Niece bringing you all the interviews. Our two production assistants are Thalia Alvarez and Lauren Adams. Luke Ahart is the student intern for photography as well as video productions.
Movement 35 focuses on marching bands in Texas and occasionally from outside of Texas. The magazine will be available in February. Inside the magazine, you will find stories from 10 bands, coverage of the US Band competitions, the Bands of America competitions, and the UIL State championship. Each year the magazine will showcase a featured band.
Every year our film team creates a documentary on marching bands. The 2023 documentary followed one band from the beginning of the marching season at summer camp to the final performance at AT&T Stadium in November. The 2024 documentary is called A Look Back and is currently in production to be released in February 2025.
Movement 35 Awards is our version of the Oscars for marching bands. The process begins with nominations from the public. Then the nominations are judged by media professionals with a background in marching bands. The third round is voting where anyone can vote to get their favorite band to the final round of judging.
Every marching season we pick marching bands to work with during the marching season. Core bands receive free media days, fundraising opportunities, and grants to help cover costs. This program will launch in Spring of 2025 for the 2025 marching season.
We are currently working on a competition that will be for Jazz band. This program will launch in the 2025/2026 school year.
We are currently working on a competition that is designed to bring in a different take on marching band competitions. This program will launch in the 2025/2026 school year.
We'd love you to be part of the team and change high school media!!!!!
